Tips for Windows
  • If you have anti-virus programs, run them weekly.
  • To free up some space on your computer, delete unnecessary files, like temporary internet files, cookies,
your web browsers cache, or documents that you don't need anymore.
  • To delete your cache, cookies, online history, and temporary internet files, select "tools" from your web
browsers menu, click "internet options" (or "options", depending on your browser), and delete the files you want.
  • Dont let your C drive get too full. Microsoft Windows, by default, installs onto your C drive. If
you allow your C drive to become full, Windows will not run properly.
  • Check for Windows Updates as often as possible. Keeping your computer up-to-date keeps it running smoothly.
  • Try to have a multitude of anti-virus software. Different programs find problems that others don't.
  • If you find any problems with a scanning program (anti-virus, anti-spyware, or anti-adware), run the scanning program again. Sometimes the scanner does not
eliminate the problem. If so, try running a different scanner. Also, update your scanner definition files.
  • Always run more than one scanning program. Spybot finds things that Ad-Aware doesn't, and vice versa, for example.
  • Don't download anything from a website you down trust or know to be trustworthy. Malicious software can be transferred to your computer through downloaded
files. If possible, avoid untrustworthy sites altogether. Cookies can be transferred after just one visit to a site.
